A FAA está adotando uma nova diretiva de aeronavegabilidade (DA) para todos os aviões da série Boeing Company Model 747-100, -100B, -100B SUD, -200B, -200C, -200F, -300, -400, -400D e -400F. Esta DA foi motivada pela constatação de que os altímetros de rádio não podem ser considerados confiáveis para desempenhar sua função pretendida se sofrerem interferência de operações de banda larga sem fio na faixa de frequência de 3,7-3,98 GHz (5G Banda C Inferior) durante operação em espaço aéreo canadense, e pela constatação de que durante decolagem, aproximação, pousos e retomadas de voo, como resultado dessa interferência, certos sistemas do avião podem não funcionar adequadamente, resultando em aumento da carga de trabalho da tripulação de voo durante a aproximação com o diretor de voo, autoacelerador ou piloto automático engajado, o que poderia resultar em capacidade reduzida da tripulação de voo de manter o voo e pouso seguro do avião. Esta DA exige a revisão do manual de voo existente (MV) do avião para incorporar limitações que proíbam certas operações que requerem dados do altímetro de rádio durante operação em espaço aéreo canadense. The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all The Boeing Company Model 747-100, -100B, -100B SUD, -200B, -200C, - 200F, -300, -400, -400D, and -400F series airplanes. This AD was prompted by the determination that radio altimeters cannot be relied upon to perform their intended function if they experience interference from wireless broadband operations in the 3.7-3.98 GHz frequency band (5G Lower C-Band) while operating in Canadian airspace, and a determination that during takeoff, approach, landings, and go-arounds, as a result of this interference, certain airplane systems may not properly function, resulting in increased flightcrew workload while on approach with the flight director, autothrottle, or autopilot engaged, which could result in reduced ability of the flightcrew to maintain safe flight and landing of the airplane. This AD requires revising the existing airplane flight manual (AFM) to incorporate limitations prohibiting certain operations requiring radio altimeter data when operating in Canadian airspace.
