The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain The Boeing Company Model 767-200, -300, -300F, and -400ER series airplanes. This AD was prompted by discovery of a crack at one of the forward lower fastener holes following replacement of a cracked underwing longeron (UWL) fitting. This AD requires performing an open hole high frequency eddy current (HFEC) inspection for cracks of the fastener holes common to the UWL fitting, upper drag splice angle, and lower drag splice angle, and applicable on-condition actions. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.Texto Completo da Diretiva

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Background The FAA issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) to amend 14 CFR part 39 by adding an AD that would apply to certain The Boeing Company Model 767-200, -300, -300F, and -400ER series airplanes. The NPRM was published in the Federal Register on April 10, 2025 (90 FR 15318). The NPRM was prompted by discovery of a crack at one of the forward lower fastener holes, outside of the inspection area of Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 767-57A0126, following replacement of a cracked UWL fitting. In the NPRM, the FAA proposed to require performing an HFEC inspection for cracks of the fastener holes common to the UWL fitting, upper drag splice angle, and lower drag splice angle and applicable on-condition actions.
