ACTION: Notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM). SUMMARY: The FAA proposes to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain The Boeing Company Model 787-8, 787-9, and 787-10 airplanes. This proposed AD was prompted by a report of multiple instances of loss of transponder for airplanes entering airspace in the presence of continuous wave (CW) interference, where the transponder did not meet the minimum operational performance standards (MOPS) requirement for transponder response. This proposed AD would require replacing the left and right integrated surveillance system processor unit (ISSPU) hardware. The FAA is proposing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. DATES: The FAA must receive comments on this proposed AD by July 28, 2025.
