A FAA está adotando uma nova diretiva de aeronavegabilidade (DA) para todas as aeronaves Boeing Company modelo DC-9-81 (MD-81), DC-9-82 (MD-82), DC-9-83 (MD-83), DC-9-87 (MD-87) e MD-88, e aeronaves das séries modelo DC-9-10, DC-9-20, DC-9-30, DC-9-40 e DC-9-50. Esta DA foi motivada pela descoberta de elevadores travados durante a decolagem. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Background The FAA issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) to amend 14 CFR part 39 by adding an AD that would apply to all The Boeing Company Model DC-9-81 (MD-81), DC-9-82 (MD-82), DC-9-83 (MD-83), DC-9-87 (MD-87), and MD-88 airplanes, and Model DC-9-10, DC-9-20, DC-9-30, DC-9-40, and DC-9-50 series airplanes. The NPRM published in the Federal Register on November 22, 2024 (89 FR 92610). The NPRM was prompted by the discovery of jammed elevators during takeoff. In the NPRM, the FAA proposed to require revising the “Certificate Limitations” section of the existing AFM to include a procedure to confirm elevator surfaces are not jammed in the TED position. The FAA is issuing this AD to address jammed elevators, which if not addressed, could result in the inability of the airplane to rotate at rotation speed VR, and lead to a rejected takeoff and high-speed runway excursion.
