A FAA propõe adotar uma nova diretiva de aeronavegabilidade (DA) para certos aviões da série Model 757-200 e -300 da The Boeing Company. Esta DA proposta foi motivada por trincas encontradas durante uma inspeção em uma aeronave equipada com winglets mesclados tipo escimitarra (SBWs) da Aviation Partners Boeing (APB). Esta DA proposta exigiria a realização de uma inspeção visual geral (IVG) ou verificação de registros de manutenção de certos reforçadores em relação a um reparo de tampão de congelamento aprovado, realização de uma inspeção de correntes parasitas de alta frequência (HFEC) da mesma área para detectar qualquer trinca comum a um certo reforçador e uma fita de reforço, e ações condicionais aplicáveis. The FAA proposes to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain The Boeing Company Model 757-200 and -300 series airplanes. This proposed AD was prompted by cracking found during an inspection on an airplane equipped with Aviation Partners Boeing (APB) scimitar blended winglets (SBWs). This proposed AD would require performing a general visual inspection (GVI) or maintenance records check of certain stringers for an approved freeze plug repair, performing a high frequency eddy current (HFEC) inspection of the same area for any crack common to a certain stringer and a reinforcement strap, and applicable on-condition actions.
