ACTION: Final rule. SUMMARY: This action amends the Class E airspace at Covington, KY. The geographic coordinates of the Cincinnati Municipal Airport/Lunken Field, Cincinnati, OH, contained within the Covington, KY, Class E airspace legal description are also being updated to coincide with the FAA's aeronautical database. This action is the result of an airspace review conducted due to the decommissioning of the Cincinnati very high frequency omnidirectional range (VOR) as part of the VOR Minimum Operational Network (MON) Program. It brings the airspace into compliance with FAA orders and supports instrument flight rule (IFR) procedures and operations. DATES: Effective 0901 UTC, July 9, 2026. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Authority for This Rulemaking The FAA's authority to issue rules regarding aviation safety is found in Title 49 of the United States Code. Subtitle I, Section 106 describes the authority of the FAA Administrator. Subtitle VII, Aviation Programs, describes in more detail the scope of the agency's authority. This rulemaking is promulgated under the authority described in Subtitle VII, Part A, Subpart I, Section 40103. Under that section, the FAA is charged with prescribing regulations to assign the use of airspace necessary to ensure the safety of aircraft and the efficient use of airspace. This regulation is within the scope of that authority as it amends the Class E airspace at the affected airports to support IFR operations. History The FAA published an NPRM for Docket No. FAA-2025-0534 in the Federal Register (91 FR 2321; January 20, 2026) and an NPRM correction (91 FR 6152; February 11, 2026) proposing to amend the Class E airspace at Covington, KY.
