A FAA está adotando uma nova diretiva de aeronavegabilidade (AD) para certas aeronaves da série Boeing 757-200 e -300. Esta AD foi motivada por trincas descobertas durante inspeção em uma aeronave equipada com winglets tipo lâmina Aviation Partners Boeing (APB). Esta AD exige a realização de uma inspeção visual geral (GVI) ou verificação de registros de manutenção de certos reforçadores para uma reparação de tampão de congelamento aprovada, realização de inspeção por correntes parasitas de alta frequência (HFEC) da mesma área para qualquer trinca comum a um certo reforçador e uma fita de reforço, e ações condicionais aplicáveis. The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain The Boeing Company Model 757-200 and -300 series airplanes. This AD was prompted by cracking found during an inspection on an airplane equipped with Aviation Partners Boeing (APB) scimitar blended winglets. This AD requires performing a general visual inspection (GVI) or maintenance records check of certain stringers for an approved freeze plug repair, performing a high frequency eddy current (HFEC) inspection of the same area for any crack common to a certain stringer and a reinforcement strap, and applicable on-condition actions. The NPRM was prompted by a report indicating a crack on a Model 757-200 airplane equipped with APB scimitar blended winglets found during an HFEC inspection during accomplishment of a 4C maintenance check.
