A FAA está adotando uma nova diretiva de aeronavegabilidade (AD) para certos motores General Electric Company (GE) Modelos CF34-10E2A1, CF34-10E6, CF34-10E6A1, CF34-10E7, CF34-10E7-B, CF34-10E5 e CF34-10E5A1. Esta AD foi motivada por um relatório de trincas encontradas no selo de ar rotativo frontal da turbina de alta pressão (HPT). Esta AD requer a realização de inspeções repetitivas por líquido penetrante fluorescente (FPI) para detectar indicações ou indicações lineares (qualquer indicação que seja quatro vezes mais longa que a largura dessa mesma indicação) no selo de ar rotativo frontal da HPT e, se necessário, substituir o selo de ar rotativo frontal da HPT ou o disco do rotor da HPT por peças elegíveis para instalação conforme aplicável. This AD was prompted by a report of cracks found in the high- pressure turbine (HPT) front rotating air seal. This AD requires performing repetitive fluorescent penetrant inspections (FPIs) to detect indications or linear indications (any indication which is four times longer than the width of that same indication) in the HPT front rotating air seal and, if necessary, replacing the HPT front rotating air seal or HPT rotor disk with parts eligible for installation as applicable. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Background The FAA issued a supplemental notice of proposed rulemaking (SNPRM) to amend 14 CFR part 39 by adding an AD that would apply to certain GE Model CF34-10E2A1, CF34-10E6, CF34-10E6A1, CF34-10E7, CF34-10E7-B, CF34-10E5, and CF34-10E5A1 engines. The SNPRM was published in the Federal Register on April 25, 2025 (90 FR 17345). The SNPRM was prompted by a report of indications found in certain HPT front rotating air seals at the rabbet surface where the affected part interacts with the HPT rotor disk tabs.
