A FAA está adotando uma nova diretiva de aeronavegabilidade (AD) para todos os aviões Boeing modelo 787-8, 787-9 e 787-10. The NPRM was prompted by a report of operators receiving No. 1 flight compartment windows that may not meet type design requirements for withstanding a bird impact. In the NPRM, the FAA proposed to require replacing affected No. 1 flight compartment windows and prohibit the installation of affected windows. The FAA is issuing this AD to prevent a window from spalling in the event of a high-energy bird impact.
