ACTION: Final rule. SUMMARY: The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Bombardier, Inc., Model BD-700-1A10 and BD-700-1A11 airplanes. This AD was prompted by the discovery that existing maintenance tasks do not detect the potential failure of the passenger door detent mechanism because there is no procedure for inspecting the passenger door locking mechanism. This AD requires revising the maintenance or inspection program, as applicable, to require use of a certain aircraft maintenance manual (AMM) task during accomplishment of a specified maintenance check. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. DATES: This AD is effective June 17, 2024. The Director of the Federal Register approved the incorporation by reference of certain publications listed in this AD as of June 17, 2024. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Background The FAA issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) to amend 14 CFR part 39 by adding an AD that would apply to certain Bombardier, Inc., Model BD-700-1A10 and BD-700-1A11 airplanes. The NPRM published in the Federal Register on December 22, 2023 (88 FR 88541). The NPRM was prompted by AD CF-2023-25, dated April 13, 2023 (referred to after this as the MCAI), issued by Transport Canada, which is the aviation authority for Canada.
