In the NPRM, the FAA proposed to require repetitive inspections for cracking at the affected area, and applicable on-condition actions. The FAA is issuing this AD to address undetected fatigue cracks which, if not addressed, could result in a principal structural element's loss of limit load capability, adversely affecting the airplane's structural integrity.
