A FAA está adotando uma nova diretiva de aeronavegabilidade (AD) para certos helicópteros Airbus Helicopters (Airbus) dos modelos AS332C, AS332C1, AS332L, AS332L1, AS332L2 e EC225LP. Esta AD foi motivada por modificações desenvolvidas pela Airbus para abordar um relato de uma janela de emergência que exigia força excessiva de empurrão para ser jettisada. Esta AD exige a remoção de fita de politetrafluoretileno (PTFE) chanfrada (se instalada) e a substituição de certos vedadores de policloropreno por vedadores de silicone, conforme especificado em uma AD da Agência Europeia de Segurança Aviação (EASA), que é incorporada por referência. Esta AD também proíbe a instalação de uma janela jettisável a menos que as ações exigidas por esta AD tenham sido executadas. This AD requires removing skived polytetrafluoroethylene tape (PTFE tape) (if installed) and replacing certain polychloroprene seals with silicone seals, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference. This AD also prohibits installing a jettisonable window unless the actions required by this AD have been accomplished.
