A FAA está adotando uma nova diretriz de aeronavegabilidade (AD) para todas as aeronaves das séries Boeing Modelo 737-100, -200, -200C, -300, -400 e -500. Esta AD foi motivada por um relatório indicando que uma trinca foi encontrada em um dos furos da longarina traseira da asa, corda inferior, no encaixe traseiro do trem de pouso principal (MLG) em uma linha de ordenada alar (WBL) específica. Esta AD exige inspeções repetitivas por correntes parasitas de alta frequência (HFEC) em furo aberto ou inspeções HFEC de superfície e ultrassônicas (UT) para detecção de trincas na longarina traseira da asa, corda inferior, no encaixe traseiro do MLG em uma WBL específica, e ações aplicáveis sob condição. This AD requires repetitive open hole high frequency eddy current (HFEC) inspections or surface HFEC and ultrasonic (UT) inspections for cracking of the wing rear spar lower chord at the MLG aft fitting at a certain WBL, and applicable on-condition actions.
