SUMMARY: The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain ATR—GIE Avions de Transport Régional Model ATR42 airplanes and Model ATR72 airplanes. This AD was prompted by a report of a certain procedure in the aircraft maintenance ( printed page 66156) manual (AMM) that incorrectly described a visual inspection of the fire handle. This AD requires a general visual inspection of both engine fire handles and applicable corrective actions, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. DATES: This AD becomes effective November 22, 2021. The Director of the Federal Register approved the incorporation by reference of a certain publication listed in this AD as of November 22, 2021. The FAA must receive comments on this AD by January 6, 2022.
