SUMMARY: This action amends the Class E airspace extending upward from 700 feet above the surface at Muhlenberg County Airport, Greenville, KY, and Madisonville Regional Airport, Madisonville, KY. This action is the result of an airspace review caused by the decommissioning of the Central City VHF omnidirectional range (VOR) navigation aid, which provided navigation information for the instrument procedures at these airports, as part of the VOR Minimum Operational Network (MON) Program. Additionally, the name of Madisonville Regional Airport and the geographic coordinates of both airports are being updated to coincide with the FAA's aeronautical database. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Authority for this Rulemaking The FAA's authority to issue rules regarding aviation safety is found in Title 49 of the United States Code. Subtitle I, Section 106 describes the authority of the FAA Administrator. Subtitle VII, Aviation Programs, describes in more detail the scope of the agency's authority. This rulemaking is promulgated under the authority described in Subtitle VII, Part A, Subpart I, Section 40103. Under that section, the FAA is charged with prescribing regulations to assign the use of airspace necessary to ensure the safety of aircraft and the efficient use of airspace. This regulation is within the scope of that authority as it amends the Class E airspace extending upward from 700 feet above the surface at Muhlenberg County Airport, Greenville, KY, and Madisonville Regional Airport, Madisonville, KY, to support instrument flight rule operations at these airports.
